A Bergen County lawyer will receive this year’s Saul Tischler Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the practice of family law. Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich, founding partner of Lesnevich & Marzano-Lesnevich, LLC, of Hackensack, will receive the honor from the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Family Law Section on April 1, at the Hilton Short Hills.
The award recognizes her contributions to advancing the development of family law and to the legal profession.
“Madeline has long been a shining star of our section. She is brilliant, personable, passionate and extremely hard working. She is committed, every day, to identifying and tackling challenging issues in our profession,” said Jeralyn L. Lawrence, chair of the association’s Family Law Section.
“She also has been a tremendous role model for all working parents in our field leading us by example and teaching us that you can balance your home and work life with much success and showing us that we can have it all," Lawrence continued.
Marzano-Lesnevich has an extensive background in the field of family law. She chairs the family law department of her law firm. She is a vice president of the National American Academy of Matrimonial Law, a fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Law, and a past president of the national academy’s New Jersey chapter. She is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, a Supreme Court of New Jersey certified matrimonial law specialist, and a frequent writer and lecturer on family law issues. In addition to her professional pursuits, she is the mother of five children and grandmother to seven.
Marzano-Lesnevich said she is “both humbled and honored to be this year’s recipient of the Tischler Award.”
“I came to the practice of family law later in life than most, with five young children and a husband who had just started his own law practice. We found our life/work balance by joining forces and starting our own firm. Practicing family law has taught me so much about life, about love, about values, and, most importantly, about priorities. Our clients need us in so many different ways, and it is my privilege to be able to assist them and to work with so many other accomplished family law attorneys. I am grateful on a daily basis for this privilege,” she said. Ms. Marzano-Lesnevich is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.
