California Fellow Richard Coffin Named San Francisco’s Environmental Lawyer of the Year

Best Lawyers, a respected peer-review publication in the legal profession, has named California Fellow Richard C. Coffin of Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP as the “San Francisco Best Lawyers Environmental Lawyer of the Year” for 2010. 

Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.” The current edition of “The Best Lawyers in America” is based on more than 2.8 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.

The lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.

Richard C. Coffin is a senior litigation partner with Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP, who specializes in the defense of environmental enforcement and toxic tort lawsuits, the defense of Proposition 65 claims and the prosecution of insurance coverage claims on behalf of policyholders. Since graduating from Stanford Law School in 1976, he has been involved in litigating many cutting edge issues of environmental law and insurance coverage law. He is also a frequent lecturer on environmental and insurance coverage issues. In 2000 he co-founded Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP, and is its Managing Partner. From 1988 to 1991, he served as the Managing Partner of Landels, Ripley & Diamond, LLP, where he began his legal career in 1976.
