North Carolina Fellow Marilyn Forbes Named as one of the Women Extraordinaire Winners of 2010 by Triangle Business Leader Magazine

North Carolina Fellow Marilyn Forbes is a skilled litigator with Womble Carlyle one of the country’s most prominent law firms. In addition to serving on the management committee for the 450-lawyer, 11-office law firm, she devotes an exceptional amount of time to community service. Professionally, Marilyn leads a products liability litigation team of more than 25 attorneys that has successfully defended products cases throughout the United States.
She has spent significant energy in advancing the development and retention of women lawyers by serving on the ABA Woman Advocate Committee and Womble Carlyle’s WOW (Women of Womble) Advisory Council. Marilyn is a passionate advocate for protecting animals against cruelty. She teachers Animal Law as a Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University School of Law and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Marilyn’s commitment to community also extends to service on the Board of Directors of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, Community Partnerships, Inc., Planned Parenthood Health Systems, Inc. and the Board of Visitors of the Wake Forest University School of Law. She has been named to Best Lawyers in America in 2009 and 2010 for mass torts Litigation.
